OWNERSHIP
Katie Moore, owner and founder of HOUSE + HABIT Interiors, officially started the business in 2022 when she decided to leave the commercial design industry after fifteen years. Working in commericial architecture firms throughout the country for most of her career, she has experience as a project designer, project architect, blockplanner, project manager and most recently construction manager for Nordstrom. With this all encompassing background, HOUSE + HABIT Interiors has all the tools and knowledge for projects at all levels from full remodels with permit drawings to home styling with existing furnishings and accessories.
BACKSTORY
After deciding to make Seattle her permanent home and settling into the West Seattle community, Katie quickly met other parents and families with similar stories of project struggles and construction nightmares. From project prioritization, to miscommunication with contractors, to unaffordable design/build companies, the stories kept compiling. It was then that Katie discovered that there is a deficit in affordable residential design services and that homeowners were being taken advantage of by the system. She also discovered that most of these projects were being managed by the homeowners themselves, who had little previous knowledge of the construction process, what exactly and how much is involved and/or the language of the construction community. This simply puts homeowners at a disadvantage from project conception and typically ends in an unfavorable result.
Seeing and hearing these unfortunate stories, Katie decided she could do something about it. It was then that she decided to leave her commerical career behind and start focusing on homes and the people inside them. She was excited to help people achieve the full potential and value of their interior projects. Her goals are not only to educate homeowners about the design/construction process, but to also inform them about the many hats interior designers wear and how they can help you achieve a successful project result. Never straying from the primary goal, HOUSE + HABIT strives to make good design tangible to all.

Here at HOUSE + HABIT Interiors we take budgets seriously and consider that no project is the same, which is reflected in our pricing strategies. One can either choose from the pre-priced packages or for more elaborate projects, we can provide a full custom quote within your project's budget.
