Although the trade of professional organization has recently become popular in the last few years through the assistance of Marie Kondo and the popular Netflix show and book, "The Home Edit," the industry has actually been around and growing since the 1980s. In 1983, an association, now known as NAPO (National Association of Productivity & Organizing), was established. Their mission is "to enable Productivity and Organizing Professionals to create successful careers and grow thriving businesses that bring order and efficiency to clients’ lives." They work to support, formally train and professionalize individuals who master the industry with a certification or a CPO. (https://www.napo.net/)
So what can a professional organizer do for you?
Simply put and quite magically done, they can actually give you back lost and precious time. That's right... TIME. What other professional can do that?! Organizers spend their hours finding and creating functional and efficient spaces that eliminate time spent on the mundane moments like household chores, getting out the door with children, dinner preparation, finding your keys, etc., and increase hours of productivity, transit time, cooking time, family time and time for sleeping and rest. Who doesn't need more time for the things we love most?
